It's already a fun game online though the lack of communication currently makes it different then playing offline with friends locally.Įnough gushing though. This game also has online and is supposedly getting voice chat in the future. It is extremely long and detailed for what I normally expect from indie e-shop titles. This game is multiplayer mayhem without being too much about killing your friends (though you may occasionally thwart them and yes there are still some opportunities to even kill them). Each character has a unique set of abilities which makes them all worth a play. Trine 2 is a puzzle/action title where you can choose to play a Knight, Thief, or Mage. Everyone should get Trine 2 because it's worth a lot more than $20.

We hope Frozenbyte can redeem themselves with their next game though because we’ve always enjoyed the series and there’s more to it than just the visuals, although perhaps less so than usual with this sequel.Just got done beating this amazing game the other night. If it was twice the length, or half the price, we’d be giving it a hearty recommendation even if that wouldn’t solve the problems with the imprecise controls.

Trine 3 is definitely a disappointment but it’s not a bad game by any means. They’re not really worth it though, as they feel disappointingly like filler material – especially as you have to restart a stage from the start whenever you die. Both styles of level have to be unlocked by collecting ‘trineangles’ and although you’ll likely get enough for the story missions without really trying you’ll probably end up backtracking and repeating levels to get all the challenges. On top of this are special challenge missions where you only get to control one character at a time. There are eight story chapters that won’t take the average player more than four hours to complete, at the end of which you get the thoroughly anticlimactic ending. Trine 3: The Artifacts Of Power (PS4) – pretty disappointing Although it is a shame that the writing and plot feels that way too, because compared to the visuals it’s utterly generic and uninteresting. It doesn’t necessarily come across so well in the screenshots, but the attention to detail and sumptuous lightning makes it look like your wandering through the painted cover of a high fantasy novel.

There are very few compromises for the PlayStation 4 version either, which runs at 1080p and 60 frames per second.

And thanks to the new 3D movement are far more interactive than before.

The giant redwood forests, the majestic mountain ranges, the tropical beaches, and the baroque wizard academy… all look staggeringly good. When it comes to the graphics though there is no mistake: this is one of the most amazing looking games of the generation. And even when you’ve realised the solution to a puzzle the actual act of completing it seems to come more through luck than judgement. That occasionally happened in the previous games too, but the fiddlier nature of the 3D movement means that you’re continually knocking over things you didn’t mean to. But unfortunately that includes accidentally solving them or simply taking advantage of a bug. And because so many of the puzzles are reliant on this technology it means they can often be completed in many different ways, some of which we suspect even the developer did not foresee. There’s also still the impressive physics system which influences every in-game object, from toppling towers of crates to smashing floors with heavy weights.
